Reading Recap – 101 Books in 1001 Days (+ 2015 Books)

Reading Recap – 101 Books in 1001 Days (+ 2015 Books)

My reading lately has been almost non-existent, but I’ve managed the odd book here and there. I’ve got two lists on the go – my 101 Books in 1001 Days list and my 2015 Reading Challenge.

I have an edit to make to my 101 in 1001 categories. I’m supposed to read 10 books that begin with the same letter as my first name (J). I don’t know if J is just tough letter or what…but I’m struggling to find anything that even remotely interests me. So I’m going to change it to the first letter of my last name (S) and see if that makes things a little easier for me.

101 Books in 1001 Days – Completed

Beach Reads

In Her Shoes – Jennifer Weiner (3/5) Ehhh it was ok. Easy read, but the kind where you end up rolling your eyes at the characters more often than not.

Books I Can Read With my Kids

Good Morning, Canada – Andrea Lynn Beck (5/5) As rated by K. Cute book, full of lots of things you find in Canada.

(I typically pick and choose which kids books I add to the list – we go though so many, I know I can easily get to 10 for this category. I try to choose the ones I want to remember about several years from now.)

Authors I’ve Never Read Before

The Unleashing by Shelly Laurenston (2/5) Quite honestly, I read this back in September and don’t remember much about it. I think I finished it in a few hours, it was a good read to “get away” for a bit, but nothing I would gush about. It was ok.

Different Genres

Three Day Road by Joseph Boyden (5/5)  *FICTION* This was a fantastic book and a must read. It follows two young Cree men as they leave their small community in Northern Ontario for the battlefields of WW1, and the return journey of only one of them. It was disturbing and very powerful and I couldn’t put it down. Probably one of my top books of the year.

Total Completed – 15/101

2015 Reading Challenge

This is more of a side challenge – on Goodreads I pledged how many books I was going to read throughout the year. For 2015, I was aiming for 50. I came up short, finishing only 42 in the past year.

I’m going to set it at 50 again for this year, hopefully I will make my goal this time around.
